The Sui Foundation held its second Builder House of 2023 in Vietnam, home to an active and enthusiastic web3 developer base. Developers attended two days of presentations covering a range of projects, from launch platforms to developer tools.
The event kicked off with a keynote from Mysten Labs’ Adeniyi Abiodun offering the latest on the coming launches of Testnet Wave 3 and Mainnet.
Beyond the presentations, participants competed in a coding challenge with a total prize pool of $29,000. A cocktail reception high above Ho Chi Minh City gave attendees incredible views while networking and enjoying drinks and delicious appetizers.
Testnet Waves and Mainnet
Adeniyi led the event with a keynote speech about Sui’s progress and the march to Mainnet. He discussed Sui’s introduction to the world at the Game Developers Conference in March of 2022 and gave details of Testnet Wave 2 results. He pointed out key new features, including support for biometric cryptography, letting users easily access their wallets, and a true randomizing function, allowing features such as dice rolls with trustworthy results in games.
As for Testnet Wave 3, it will focus on apps and builders, as opposed to the previous two which tested infrastructure. He confirmed that Wave 3 will become a permanent Testnet running alongside Mainnet.
Basics of Game Building
Sui Foundation Developer Relations Engineer Shayan Sanjideh gave a hands-on workshop on using objects and functions to build a game. In his example, he explained code samples of how a builder might create a car object and, using Sui’s unique capabilities, offer a car shop where players can buy upgrades to make their cars perform better.
This use case shows an early and attractive type of app for Sui, leveraging its capabilities as a gaming platform to support the same features as console and PC platforms. Even better, on Sui games would allow players to trade parts and even set up independent garages to offer unique car mods.
Developer Tools
Builders presented an impressive set of tools that will greatly accelerate app development on Sui. These tools ranged from plug-ins to platforms to a unique knowledgebase system.
Move Studio, a full-featured online integrated development environment (IDE), frees builders from hunting down libraries, installing dev tools, and even lugging around a computer. Builders can launch Move Studio in a browser and begin coding their apps in an environment that includes color syntax highlighting.
From coding, builders can go directly to deployment in Move Studio. It compiles, runs unit tests, and launches apps. Builders can log into it from any computer, greatly increasing on-the-go productivity.
For builders who might need a little more help, Movebase showed off its low-code browser-based development platform. Movebase includes drag and drop development and other tools to make building on Sui easier and faster. Along with coding help, Movebase includes monitoring and alerts, so builders can see how many people are using their apps and discover friction points or other usage barriers. Movebase offers a free plan, supporting a single app, and a subscription-based growth plan supporting up to 10 apps.
MoveBit demonstrated its Move Analyzer, an IDE plug-in that checks code as builders write it. Move Analyzer fully supports Move on Sui and is designed for minimal resource use. It’s also open source, designed as a community project allowing for continuous development and refinement. MoveBit is a primary contributor to Move Prover, the original open source tool designed to debug Move code.
Peerahna presented its novel builder help and documentation system for web3. Recognizing that web3 builders are fragmented across channels and languages, the company deploys bots that listen for questions asked on specific channels, then rebroadcasts them to its bots on other channels. Someone may ask a question on the Telegram Suinami Riders group, and have it automatically asked on the Sui Discord channel. If someone on any channel replies, the original questioner receives that answer.
Peerahna is also using auto-translate, so someone can ask a question in Cantonese, and may receive a translated answer from a Korean speaker. Peerhana will use AI to scan the traffic and find patterns such as frequently asked questions. It can then auto-compile answer libraries, replying to questions with previously sourced answers.

Over 24 hours, 86 individual players and 58 teams took on our capture the flag-style coding challenge at the Vietnam Builder House. Participants had to solve increasingly difficult problems in three categories: Move on Sui, Sui Framework, and General Computing. In a special “first blood” prize round, rewarding those first to solve the challenges, the top three winners were teams from Suia, Typus Finance, and ComingChat. In the overall winners category, the Suia and Typus teams were joined by Scallop on the podium.
