Sui, the only blockchain built for mass adoption, today announced the opening of SuiHub Lagos, a dynamic new space dedicated to the rapidly expanding developer and blockchain ecosystem in West Africa. As the fourth physical hub in Sui’s growing global network, Lagos follows Dubai, Vietnam, and most recently, Athens, marking a significant step in the Sui Foundation’s strategy to empower talent-rich communities worldwide with the tools to build impactful applications on Sui.

West Africa is home to a young and vibrant population, and the fastest-growing developer ecosystem. Lagos, Nigeria’s tech capital, is at the heart of this growth, with a thriving startup scene, a rapidly expanding crypto and fintech sector, and increasing institutional and regulatory interest in blockchain applications. Builders in Lagos are tackling local challenges with global implications, making it a natural home for the next SuiHub.

SuiHub Lagos is a community-led space that is designed for innovation. In a city already known for its entrepreneurial spirit, SuiHub Lagos will act as a launchpad for new ideas and serve as a collaborative environment for developers, entrepreneurs, and technologists to access Sui’s global infrastructure and resources. The hub – with planned activities that extend beyond Nigeria and into Ghana and Kenya – will host regular workshops, developer office hours, educational sessions, and demo days, while connecting local builders to international mentors, partners, and funding opportunities.

“Lagos is home to one of the most energetic tech communities in the world right now,” said Christian Thompson, Sui Foundation Managing Director. “By creating a space to collaborate, learn, and build, Sui is giving talented developers in Lagos the infrastructure and support to build on Sui and create solutions that will have a significant global impact.”

This launch is part of Sui’s broader commitment to the region. Before the hub’s opening, the Sui Foundation initiated grassroots outreach across Africa, including hackathons and other initiatives focused on the real-world adoption of Sui’s unique object-based architecture and the Move programming language. After witnessing first-hand the potential of the region, Adenyi Abiodun, co-founder at Mysten Labs, the inventors of Sui, personally launched a fund to support Nigerian students training to become blockchain software developers

Hubs like the one in Lagos play a crucial role in this expansion, providing local access to technical support, advisory services, and educational content. Much of the focus includes courses and workshops on learning Move language and developing on Sui, supporting work with Sui-native tools such as zkLogin and Walrus, Sui’s decentralized storage platform. In the coming months, SuiHub Lagos will host a series of events designed to foster collaboration among academic institutions, developer communities, and ecosystem partners across the continent.

Stay tuned for upcoming events and opportunities at SuiHub Lagos and find out more here.
