The R25 protocol is bringing Real-World Assets (RWAs) onto the Sui network with the launch of rcUSD, a RWA-supported token, and rcUSDp, its yield-bearing counterpart. This collaboration brings regulated, off-chain financial instruments onto the Sui blockchain.

At its core, R25 enables the creation of tokens supported by a diversified portfolio of tokenized money market funds and stablecoins. This model allows users to participate in institutional-grade opportunities previously out of reach, while rcUSDp sets a new standard for compliance-aware, income-generating crypto assets.

“This is a major step in bridging traditional finance with blockchain infrastructure, opening secure new pathways for Asia’s massive amounts of institutional capital to flow onchain,” said Christian Thompson, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation. “We’re excited to start our work with R25 to support their mission to bring institutional-grade RWA yield tokens to the onchain economy.”

Real-World Assets (RWA), Now Onchain

The R25 protocol introduces two tokens on Sui: rcUSD and rcUSDp.

  • rcUSD is a RWA-supported token — supported by regulated, interest-generating, real-world financial instruments — and designed to maintain a value of 1 US dollar.
  • rcUSDp is the receipt token after holders stake their rcUSD and is yield-bearing, allowing holders to earn staking rewards which come from both the underlying RWA portfolio (including tokenized money market funds) and public chain incentives.

This collaboration represents a leap forward in bringing compliant, off-chain assets onchain through tokenization, and rcUSDp is one of the first yieldcoins supported by institutional-grade safeguards and income-producing underlying assets.

For Sui, it’s a key milestone in driving TVL and liquidity from outside the crypto-native economy.

“Sui's technology, innovations and deep roots in Asia made it the natural starting point for R25 in building compliant, large-scale digital finance,” said Jason Windawi, R25 Chief Strategy Officer. “What excites us about rcUSD is its potential to unlock new opportunities for institutions and strengthen Asia’s role in the global onchain economy.”

rcUSD and rcUSDp will integrate with DeFi protocols across Sui, unlocking yield opportunities, lending functionality, and liquidity for RWA-supported assets. This will expand the DeFi ecosystem on Sui, which has already grown to more than $2B in TVL.
