# DeepBook App Is Live: Onchain Power for Serious Traders

### ‍**Main Takeaways**

- DeepBook App launches with Spot and Predict. 150,000+ traders joined the waitlist ahead of launch.
- Spot gives traders direct access to the order book behind $20B+ in Sui trading volume.
- Predict introduces a different kind of onchain market for BTC: pick any price, set ranges, trade across timeframes as short as one minute. It is powered by a peer-to-pool primitive that allows users to trade BTC options, enabled by high-frequency volatility oracles from [Block Scholes](https://www.blockscholes.com/).

Today, DeepBook Trading Foundation is launching [DeepBook App](http://app.deepbook.xyz/), giving high-conviction traders direct access to the shared order book that has powered trading across Sui for three years. More than 15 apps already route through the book, from DEXs to aggregators to trading venues, with over $20B in volume.

“Sui was built to move money as fast as messages, and DeepBook App extends that into a fast, seamless trading experience,” said Adeniyi Abiodun, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Mysten Labs, the original contributor to Sui. “DeepBook App gives traders one trusted place to access shared liquidity while keeping control of their funds. It is the foundation for a more connected trading experience on Sui.”

DeepBook App launches with two main features: Spot trading and Predict.

Spot is trading the way you already know it. Spot gives traders direct access to Sui’s central limit order book. Bids and asks rest onchain and match by price and time. Trade SUI/USDC, xBTC/USDC, DEEP/USDC, WAL/USDC, and others, with more pairs to come. Visit the [app](http://app.deepbook.xyz/) for the latest supported markets.

## Introducing Predict

Predict is a new kind of prediction market where traders can pick any price or trade a range, not just a yes-or-no outcome. Predict launches with BTC across multiple timeframes, with support for additional assets planned in future releases.

Most prediction markets begin with a predefined yes/no question, like whether BTC will close above $100,000 by December.

Predict instead lets traders take a view on a specific price level or range across supported timeframes.  A trader could, as per the image above, take a view that the price of BTC will be between $78,705 and $78,720 in a given timeframe (from one minute to two weeks) rather than choosing from a fixed menu of outcomes. In order to streamline the process and reduce any friction in moving quickly between positions, DeepBook App enables 1-click trading.

DeepBook Predict was built for high-conviction traders that demand this level of versatility, speed and specificity.

Under the hood

Predict is powered by a peer-to-pool options primitive. A unified PLP pool takes counterparty positions against binary options and users trade against that pool. Quotes are powered by a high-frequency, low-latency volatility oracle from [Block Scholes](https://www.blockscholes.com/) that was purpose built for this capability. Predict lets traders choose a specific price or range across supported expiries, including markets as short as one minute.

That's possible because an oracle prices the full curve rather than individual strikes, deriving a price for any level. Unlike prediction markets with pre-made markets for each strike, Predict can price a trader-selected level or range on demand. BTC UP/DOWN is one type of market that Predict supports, but the primitive itself is designed to quote any arbitrary event. If there is an oracle, there is a quote.

Speed, efficiency and trust

Sui’s fast settlement makes markets as short as one minute viable, allowing short-duration positions to be traded and settled entirely onchain. Sui's parallel execution supports this: each market is its own shared object, so trades in one market do not affect other markets.

Trust is equally important. On DeepBook App, funds settle onchain, with no house account or withdrawal queue. The protocol is [audited](https://github.com/sui-foundation/security-audits/blob/main/docs/deepbook_v3_audit_final.pdf), runs an active bug bounty program, and the entire experience on the app is self-custodial.

"Most onchain trading products make you choose between execution quality and keeping control of your funds.” said Glenn Kennedy, CEO of DeepBook Trading Foundation. “We built this so serious traders don't have to make that trade-off. Spot and Predict are just the first two products on that roadmap."

### FAQs

- **Why does shared liquidity matter?**
    - Onchain liquidity is often divided across separate apps and order books, leaving less depth available in each venue. DeepBook’s spot market allows multiple apps to route through the same book, so liquidity can compound rather than fragment. For traders moving meaningful size, greater shared depth can support tighter spreads and lower slippage.
- **What is Predict, and how is it different from a prediction market?**
    - A prediction market gives you a fixed set of yes-or-no bets that someone else defined, and the position you hold is a dead-end token you cannot use elsewhere. Predict works differently. You name any price you want, including ranges between two prices, and the market is created on demand and priced for you in real time. One shared pool acts as counterparty to trades, rather than requiring another trader to take the opposite side. The closest traditional analog is asking a derivatives desk for a custom quote, automated and running onchain.
- **Which countries are not able to engage with DeepBook trading platform?**
    - DeepBook App is not available in the following jurisdictions: Afghanistan, Belarus, China, Cuba, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, and Syria.
    - In the United States, Spot trading is available, but Predict is not.
- **Will more Spot markets be added over time?**
    - DeepBook App is designed to provide access to markets available on DeepBook protocol. Additional trading pairs may become available over time as the app expands. Check the app for the latest supported markets. DeepBook App will continue to assess support for additional assets. Look for updates on app.deepbook.xyz and on X at @DeepBookonSui.
- **What assets are currently supported for Predict (placing prediction market positions) on DeepBook App?**
    - BTC is currently the only asset supported, however DeepBook will continue to assess other asset support. Look for updates on [app.deepbook.xyz](http://app.deepbook.xyz/) and on X at @[DeepBookonSui](https://x.com/DeepBookonSui)
